Deal: Varian Medical Systems to create 100 jobs in Atlanta

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Varian Medical Systems, the world's leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating cancer and a premier supplier of X-ray imaging components, will expand its operations in Fulton County, creating up to 100 new high-paying technical jobs over the next five years.

Deal: February revenues up 12.6 percent

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Georgia’s net tax collections for February totaled $943.7 million, an increase of $105.6 million, or 12.6 percent, compared to February 2014. 

Deals launch Read Across Georgia Month

Gov. Nathan Deal and First Lady Sandra Deal were joined today by Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) Commissioner Amy Jacobs to kick off Read Across Georgia Month, a campaign that supports increased childhood literacy in the state.

In response to a winter storm warning declared for 50 counties in the northern portion of Georgia tomorrow, Gov. Nathan Deal this evening ordered state government offices in the affected areas to close at noon tomorrow and declared a state of emergency for disaster preparedness starting at 2 p.m.

 

Deal delays openings in counties facing storm warning

Responding to a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service, Gov. Nathan Deal has ordered a two-hour delayed opening tomorrow morning for state offices in Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Towns, Union and White counties.
