Deal: Comcast to create 300 jobs in Fulton, Gwinnett counties

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Comcast will expand its business in greater Atlanta, creating 300 new jobs in Fulton and Gwinnett counties and relocating to a new, more modern regional headquarters in Peachtree Corners as part of the company’s overall effort to enhance the customer experience.

 

Deal declares emergency for North Georgia counties

Acting on a recommendation from the state's Emergency Operations Command, Gov. Nathan Deal this evening signed an executive order to declare a state of emergency for disaster preparedness for the 15 North Georgia counties under a winter storm warning and will ask state workers in affected areas who are not involved in emergency response to work from home.

Deal unveils Opportunity School District legislation

Gov. Nathan Deal’s Senate floor leader Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) today introduced legislation to create an Opportunity School District that will allow the state to temporarily step in to assist chronically failing schools, giving students and parents hope for a better future.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Georgia’s net tax collections for January totaled $1.86 billion, an increase of $53.9 million, or 3 percent, compared to January 2014.
