Deal appoints 22 to boards

Kathryn Klock-Powell, Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists

Klock-Powell is the program director in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at South University—Savannah campus. She serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and is a past vice president. Klock-Powell is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a registered play therapist. She earned a doctorate in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. She and her husband, Will, have two children. They reside in Springfield.

Ben P. Marion, Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists (reappointment)

Marion is the chief executive officer of Turning Point Hospital in Moultrie. He serves on the board of directors for the Colquitt County YMCA and Colquitt County United Way. Marion earned a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Jennifer, have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Moultrie.

Steve E. Livingston, Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists (reappointment)

Livingston currently serves as the director of Behavioral Services for the Mercer University School of Medicine—Savannah campus and as Behavioral Medicine Scientist/Associate Professor for the Memorial Health Family Medicine Residency Program in Savannah. He serves on the National Ethics Committee of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Livingston earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a master’s degree in Counseling and a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Florida State University. He and his wife, Sue, are in the process of relocating to Savannah from Dunwoody.

Maggie Rickman, Judicial Qualifications Commission

Rickman currently works in the multi-age Little Way Elementary classroom for third through fifth grades. She is a certified peace officer and probation officer. She previously worked in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit, Western Judicial Circuit and for the Department of Corrections at the Toccoa Probation Office. Rickman earned a bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies from Georgia Southern University. She and her husband, Brian, have two children. They reside in Tiger.

Linda Evans, Judicial Qualifications Commission (reappointment)

Evans is an attorney with expertise in insurance and professional liability law. She previously served on the Georgia Board of Driver Services, as a member of Gov. Deal’s Criminal Justice Reform Council and on the Atlanta White House Fellows Regional Selection Panel. Evans earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and a law degree from Fordham University. She and her husband, Randolph, have one child. They reside in Atlanta.

Jose Perez, Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission

Perez currently serves as president of Target Market Trends. He is a commissioner on the State Charter School Commission and previously served as the 7th Congressional District representative on the State Board of Education. He and his wife, Yolanda, have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Norcross.

Larry Spillers, Georgia Forestry Commission

Spillers is the Georgia operations manager of Jordan Forest Products in Barnesville. He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Forestry Association and is the past chairman of the Georgia Sustainable Forest Initiative Implementation Committee. Spillers has more than 35 years of experience in Georgia’s forest industry. He and his wife, Pam, have two children and six grandchildren. They reside in Roberta.

Earl Smith, Georgia Forestry Commission (reappointment)

Smith retired as vice president of Forest Resources, Gilman Building Products. He has served as president and on the boards for both the Florida Forestry Association and the Georgia Forestry Association. Smith received the Wise Owl Award for his service with the Georgia Forestry Association and served as president of the Southern Forest World. He is a past recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for his service in the Osprey District of the Okefenokee Council of Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife, Carol, have two children and five grandchildren. They reside in Greensboro.

Susannah Kidwell, Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission

Kidwell is the director of Rehabilitation Services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she has worked for the past 15 years. Kidwell has worked in the field of brain injury rehabilitation for more than 25 years. Kidwell received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Florida State University. She and her husband, Jeffery, have one child. They reside in Atlanta.

Gwen McKee, Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission

McKee is a former middle school reading instructor and adjunct professor at Savannah State University. She currently serves on the board of the Brain Injury Association of Georgia and the Jolly Foundation. She previously served on the board of the Junior League of Savannah, the Georgia Conservancy, the Savannah Tree Foundation, the Chatham Environmental Forum and the Ossabaw Foundation. McKee earned a bachelor’s degree from Salem College and a master’s degree from the Citadel. She and her husband, Thomas, have three children. They reside in Savannah.

Kent Fountain, Georgia Seed Development Commission

Fountain is president and chief executive officer of Southeastern Gin & Peanut, Inc., Altamaha Oil and is chairman of Premium Peanut, LLC. He serves as president of the Southeastern Ginners’ Association and is a National Cotton Council Director. He served as chairman of the Wayne County Board of Education from 2006 to 2010 and is past chairman of the National Cotton Ginners’ Association. Fountain earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Missi, have two sons. They reside in Screven.

Randall W. Hatcher, Board of Economic Development

Hatcher is president of MAU Workforce Solutions. He serves on the board of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and the World Presidents’ Organization Christian Fellowship Network. He is the author of The Birth of a New Workforce. Hatcher earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Marilee, have three children and two grandchildren. They reside in Augusta.

Beth Adcock Shiroishi, Board of Economic Development

Shiroishi is currently the president of AT&T Georgia, where she is responsible for the company’s government relations, public policy and community relations initiatives across the state. She serves on the board of governors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the executive committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and on the national board of directors for Genesys Works. Shiroishi attended Agnes Scott College before beginning her career as a high school teacher. She and her husband, Jason, have two daughters and live in Atlanta.

Charles K. Tarbutton, Georgia Ports Authority

Tarbutton is assistant vice president of the Sandersville Railroad Company. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Georgia Power Company, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, the Georgia Railroad Association and Brentwood School. He is a past chair of the Georgia Board of Economic Development, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Oconee Fall Line Technical College and Leadership Georgia. Tarbutton earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Emory University. He and his wife, Helen, have three children. They are active members of the Sandersville United Methodist Church and reside in Sandersville. 

Chris Steverson, Sexual Offender Registration Review Board

Steverson is the sheriff of Telfair County. He currently serves on the Jail Operations and Standards Committee of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association and was a member of the 22nd Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Delegation to Israel. He serves as a voting member on the Area 8 All Hazards Council and as a member of the Community Relations Committee for Corrections Corporation of America’s Federal Prison in McRae-Helena. He graduated from Abraham Baldwin Regional Police Academy’s 89th Session. He and his wife, Shelley, have three children. They reside in McRae-Helena.

Linda Frye Campbell, State Board of Examiners of Psychologists

Campbell is a professor in the Counseling Psychology Program at the University of Georgia and is also director of the Center for Counseling in the Counseling and Human Development Department. She is a member of the board of directors of the American Psychological Association and is past chair of the APA Ethics Committee and Board of Educational Affairs. Dr. Campbell has served as president of the APA Division of Psychotherapy, the Division of State Associations and the Georgia Psychological Association. She is co-author of several books, including the APA Ethics Code Commentary. She and her husband, Alan, reside in Johns Creek.

Carolyn Hill, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators

Hill is chief executive officer of Sunshine Companion Care, LLC, a health care consulting and in-home sitter provider. She has clinical and administrative health care experience and has provided expert witness testimony in numerous states in medical malpractice cases. Hill earned a bachelor’s degree from Oglethorpe University, a master’s degree from the Medical College of Georgia and a doctorate degree from Heed University. She resides in Brunswick.

Terry Cook, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (reappointment)

Cook serves as the chief operating officer of Pine Leaf Investments. He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Health Care Association, McRae Rotary Club and the Merchants & Citizens Bank in McRae. He received the Administrator of the Year Award from the Georgia Healthcare Association in 2008. Cook earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Samford University. He and his wife, Heather, have four children. They reside in McRae.

Dianne Wolfe Patterson, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (reappointment)

Patterson currently serves as the administrator for Roswell Nursing and Rehab Center. She has practiced nursing for 44 years, specializing in gerontological nursing  for the past 26 years. She has been a licensed nursing home administrator since 2009. Patterson is an active member of the Georgia Healthcare Association and Mountain View United Methodist Church. She and her husband, David, reside in Marietta. 

Barbara B. Mitchell, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (reappointment)

Mitchell is vice president of Clinical Services and corporate compliance officer for Magnolia Manor, Inc. Prior to this role, she was the nursing home administrator of Magnolia Manor in Buena Vista for 11 years. She currently serves on the board of the Georgia Health Care Association and is the board liaison to the Georgia Association of Nurses in Long Term Care. She previously served on the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses. Mitchell has been a licensed registered nurse since 1980 and a licensed nursing home administrator since 1996. She and her husband, Bill, live in Americus.

Christopher Hobby, State Workforce Investment Board

Hobby serves as the city manager of Bainbridge. He previously served as assistant city manager of Bainbridge and city manager of Colquitt. Hobby earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University and a master’s degree from Kennesaw State University. He and his wife, Anne, have two children. They reside in Bainbridge.

Lori K. Rozier, Sexual Offender Registration Review Board

Rozier is currently employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections, where she is the manager of the Sex Offender Administration Unit. She has been employed with the state of Georgia since 1995, serving in various roles with probation and facility operations. She is a member of the Georgia Probation Association. Rozier earned a master’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Capella University. She and her son, Connor, reside in Dublin.
