Deal announces I-285 and Ga.400 partnership

Nathan Deal, joined by members of a multijurisdictional, bipartisan partnership of elected officials and business leaders, applauded the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts for their commitment of $10.5 million in financial assistance to move forward improvements to the I-285/Ga. 400 Interchange, a project of statewide significance.

Deal executive order protects students, local control

Gov. Nathan Deal today signed an executive order that prohibits the state from collecting or sharing with the federal government any personally identifiable data on students or their families, that firmly asserts the state’s sovereignty over educational standards and that maintains local control over curriculum and instruction.

Deal announces Innovation in Teaching Competition

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the launch of the Innovation in Teaching Competition, a recognition and reward opportunity for teachers available through Georgia’s Innovation Fund, a competitive grant program created through Georgia’s Race to the Top plan.

Deal: April revenues up 13.2 percent

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for the month of April 2013 totaled $1.73 billion for an increase of $201 million, or 13.2 percent, compared to April 2012.

Deal signs 2014 budget

Gov. Nathan Deal today signed into law the Fiscal Year 2014 budget, which takes effect upon the start of the fiscal year on July 1.
