Deal appoints legislator to Pardons and Paroles

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that he has appointed state Rep. James Mills (R-Gainesville) to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, effective Jan. 1. Mills will succeed Gale Buckner, whose term ends Dec. 31.

Deal signs local legislation

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that he has signed the following local legislation from the 2011 special session of the General Assembly. The vast majority of the laws provide new district maps for county commissions and school boards.

Deal appoints deputy adjutant general

September 16, 2011

Gov. Nathan Deal today tapped Lt. Col. (Ret.) Joe Jarrard of Dahlonega as deputy adjutant general. Jarrard, who recently served under Gen. David Petraeus in Afghanistan, takes command Sept. 30. An official ceremony will be held at a later date.

Deal fills Walker County State Court judgeship

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that he has appointed Bruce E. Roberts to fill the vacancy in the state court of Walker County. Mr. Roberts will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. C. Donald Peppers.
