Deal announces law enforcement task force

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the members of the law enforcement task force, who will examine the Basic Law Enforcement Officer Training Course and establish competency-based standards for any course revisions deemed appropriate.

Gov. Deal and the General assembly have allocated nearly $900 million to local school systems over the past three years. The additional funding was intended to increase teacher salaries, eliminate furlough days and increase instructional days.

Deal: Georgia earns top marks, nets savings by refunding bonds

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Georgia will save more than $152 million by refunding outstanding bonds after again earning a rating of AAA, with a stable outlook, from each of the three main credit-rating agencies — Moody’s, Fitch and Standard & Poor’s. Only 11 states currently meet this standard.

Deal announces judicial appointment

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointment of the Honorable Don Wesley Thompson as Superior Court Judge of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. Thompson will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Jon Bolling Wood.
