At the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner in Glennville today, Gov. Nathan Deal signed two bills, one that allows long-serving officers to keep their firearms when they retire and another to promote Georgia Grown products.

Deal appoints State Court judge in Fayette County

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointment of Jason B. Thompson as State Court judge of Fayette County. Thompson will fill the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Carla Wong McMillian to the Georgia Court of Appeal.

Deal: March revenues up 1 percent

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for March totaled $1.17 billion for an increase of nearly $12.7 million, or 1.1 percent, compared to March 2012.
