Deal announces judicial appointments
Gov. Nathan Deal today announced appointments to fill several judicial vacancies. The Honorable Nicholas Primm will fill the vacancy in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit created by the retirement of the Honorable David Motes. The Honorable Rebecca Crumrine Rieder will fill the vacancy in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit created by the retirement of the Honorable Doris Downs. The Honorable Holly Veal will fill the vacancy in the Flint Judicial Circuit created by the retirement of the Honorable Arch McGarity. The Honorable John Stephenson will fill the vacancy in the Dougherty County State Court created by the appointment of the Honorable Victoria Darrisaw to the Dougherty Circuit Superior Court.
The appointments will take effect upon swearing in.
Nicholas Primm, Piedmont Judicial Circuit
Primm is a partner at the law firm Bradford & Primm, LLC. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Primm and his wife, Meghan, have two children and reside in Pendergrass.
Rebecca Crumrine Rieder, Atlanta Judicial Circuit
Rieder is a partner at the law firm Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of the South, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Rieder and her husband, Douglas, have two children and live in Atlanta.
Holly Veal, Flint Judicial Circuit
Veal is the Associate Judge for the Henry County Magistrate Court and an attorney with the Veal Law Firm, P.C. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Veal and her husband, Lindsey, have two children and reside in McDonough.
John Stephenson, Dougherty County State Court
Stephenson is the Magistrate Judge for Dougherty County Magistrate Court and was previously a partner at the law firm Watson Spence. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Stephenson and his wife, Nancy, have two sons and live in Albany.
