In case you missed it: Georgia named top state for business for fourth consecutive year

This week, Gov. Nathan Deal joined state and local economic development partners to highlight Georgia’s ranking as the top state for business and celebrate the expansion of Atlanta’s technology infrastructure. 

“Georgia has once again been named the top state for business, reflecting our collaborative economic development efforts and ongoing investment in the workforce and infrastructure that make us a premier destination for companies looking to relocate or expand their operations,” said Deal. “This week alone, I announced the creation of 1,300 new jobs as a result of the expansion of two of Atlanta’s leading technology firms. These numbers are just the latest testament as to why we continue to hold this coveted position. I am confident that our business-friendly climate and partnership approach to business development will help Georgia remain the nation’s strongest economic engine for years to come.“

Recent highlights include:

  • This week, Deal announced the creation of 1,300 new technology-related jobs as a result of the expansion of Accenture, a Fortune Global 500 company specializing in international management and consulting, and OneTrust, a global privacy management software company. 
  • This month, Area Development, a leading executive magazine covering corporate site selection and relocation, named Georgia the No. 1 state in the nation in which to do business for the fourth consecutive year. The 2017 Top States for Doing Business rankings reflect the results of a recent survey that asked site consultants to provide their top state picks in 12 categories related to companies’ location and facility planning. 
  • In addition to being the top state for business, Georgia ranked No. 1 for workforce development programs, and cooperative and responsive state government. View Area Development’s full report on the Top States for Doing Business here. 
  • On Tuesday, Deal visited the new Honeywell North American Software Center and announced that the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Global Commerce Division helped create a total of 30,309 new jobs during FY 17, generating a record-breaking $6.33 billion in investments.
