Deal announces solicitor general appointment

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointment of Billy J. Nelson, Jr. as solicitor general of the State Court of Long County. 

The vacancy in the Office of Solicitor General of the State Court of Long County was created by the appointment of the Honorable Mark Hendrix as solicitor general of the State Court of Liberty County. The appointment will take effect upon swearing in.

Billy J. Nelson, Jr.
Nelson currently serves as assistant district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney in the Atlantic Judicial Circuit. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Nelson and his wife, Kathryn, have two children and reside in Hinesville.
