Deal appoints Neal to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

Gov. Nathan Deal today appointed Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) Interim Director Jay Neal to be permanent CJCC director. This appointment will take effect immediately.

 Jay Neal was the interim director of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2004 and served until 2013, when he was appointed by Deal to be the executive director of the Governor’s Office of Transition, Support, and Reentry. Neal joined the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in September 2015 as the criminal justice liaison and has been the CJCC interim director since July 1. Neal sat on the board of directors for the Lookout Mountain Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the SAGE Resource Center and YOBEL House. He and his wife, Gretchen, have two children and seven grandchildren. They reside in Chickamauga.
