Deal appoints six to boards
Robert Alpert, D.C., Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners
Alpert is the CEO of Southmetro Chiropractic Center, Inc. He was recently nominated to be the secretary of the Georgia Chiropractic Association and is a former vice chair of the board of directors for Rainbow House, Inc. Alpert is a graduate of Leadership Clayton and the United Way VIP Program. He is a member of the Small Business Development committee of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. Alpert earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport and a doctoral degree in Chiropractic from Life University. He and his wife, Sherry, have three children and three grandchildren. They reside in Jackson.
Pedro Cherry, Georgia Tourism Foundation
Cherry is the senior vice president of the Metro Atlanta region for Georgia Power. He sits on the boards of the Atlanta Police Foundation, Central Atlanta Progress, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Atlanta Beltline Partnership. He is the chairman of the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance and a graduate of Leadership Atlanta. Cherry is also a member of the CFA Institute, 100 Black Men of Atlanta and the Auburn University Alumni Engineering Advisory Council. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Business from Auburn University. He and his wife, Tomeka, have two children and live in Atlanta.
Steve Hallowell, Georgia Tourism Foundation
Hallowell is the vice president of marketing for Herschend Family Entertainment, which includes properties such as Stone Mountain Park and Wild Adventures. He was previously a marketing and sales executive for Eastman Kodak Co. for more than 25 years. Hallowell and his wife, Barbara, have two children and reside in Cumming.
Marisa Simpson, Georgia Tourism Foundation
Simpson is the director of community relations and economic development for AGL Resources. He is a trustee for the Leadership Georgia Foundation, the Touchdown Club of Atlanta and the National College Football Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association. Simpson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the football team. He and his wife, Aimee, have one child and live in Lilburn.
Kenny Green, State Board of Examiners for the Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts
Green is the vice president of G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers and manages the company’s Augusta office. He is a licensed engineer in Georgia and South Carolina. Green previously worked for NASA at the Johnson Space Center. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech. Green and his wife, Valerie, have ten children and two grandchildren. They reside in Thomson.
Kim Hembree, State Board of Examiners for the Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts
Hembree is a regulatory compliance specialist for the Watershed Protection Branch of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division. Hembree earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia. She and her husband, Chris, live in Carrollton.
