Deal appoints seven to boards

Anna “Miki” Thomaston, Board of Natural Resources
Thomaston is the manager of technical marketing at Rayonier Advanced Materials. She is a former chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of the Altamaha Area. Thomaston and her husband are members of the 2016 Leadership Georgia class. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Thomaston and her husband, Jody, have two children and live in Jesup. 

Seth Millican, Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission
Millican is the executive director of the Georgia Transportation Alliance. He has been recognized in several publications for his work on policy-related initiatives. Millican earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Thomas Edison State University. He and his wife, Kara, have three children and reside in Kennesaw.

Dennis Chastain, Board of Economic Development
Chastain is the president and CEO of Georgia EMC. He sits on the board of governors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the board of directors for the Georgia 4-H Foundation. Chastain earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Lucy, have two children and reside in Dacula. 

Shawn LaGrua, Georgia Commission on Child Support
LaGrua is a Fulton County Superior Court judge. She has previous experience as inspector general in the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and as solicitor general for DeKalb County. LaGrua was also a senior assistant district attorney in DeKalb County, Fulton County and the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit. She is a former vice chair of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. LaGrua earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a law degree from Georgia State University. She and her husband, Christopher, have two children and live in Atlanta.

Todd Markle, Georgia Commission on Child Support
Markle is a Fulton County Superior Court judge. He has practiced law for more than 20 years and was previously executive counsel to Gov. Deal. Markle is a former chairman of the Criminal Justice Reform Council. He sits on the boards of directors for the Rotary Club of Buckhead, the Atlanta Film Festival and Chris Kids. Markle earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Mercer University. He and his wife, Beverly, have two children and reside in Atlanta. 

Emory Palmer, Georgia Commission on Child Support
Palmer is a Superior Court judge in the Coweta Judicial Circuit and presides over the Troup County Drug Court. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was previously a partner of Carr & Palmer, LLP. Palmer is a member of the Council of Superior Court Judges. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from the University of Georgia. Palmer and his wife, Jennifer, have two children and live in Newnan.

Jarrett McIntosh, State Licensing Board of Residential and General Contractors
McIntosh works for SR Homes and was previously the principal at McIntosh Land Co. He is a member of the Home Builder  s Association of Georgia and previously sat on the organization’s board of directors. McIntosh earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University. He and his wife, Molly, reside in Atlanta.
