Georgia Children's Cabinet Promotes Immunization Awareness Month

On behalf of the Georgia Children’s Cabinet’s campaign for Immunization Awareness month, First Lady Sandra Deal, Cabinet members and legislators visited Georgia hospitals this week as part of a statewide tour to discuss the importance of childhood immunizations with new mothers and fathers.

On Monday, July 14 and Thursday, July 17, Mrs. Deal and the Governor’s Office of Children and Families’ Hayley Howell traveled to several Metro Atlanta hospitals to tour the facilities and speak with hospital personnel, patients, and their families on the importance of making sure that all of Georgia’s children begin the immunization process by two months of age in order to best ensure a healthy life. Mrs. Deal also presented new mothers with a Georgia Children’s Cabinet immunization card made by Hallmark that allows families to easily keep track of their children’s immunizations. This year alone, 159,145 Hallmark immunization cards have been distributed across the state.

On Monday, they visited WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell, WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, North Fulton Hospital, Northside Hospital – Forsyth, and Gwinnett Medical Center’s Women’s Pavillion in Lawrenceville. On Thursday, they visited Atlanta Medical Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, Northside Hospital, and Emory Johns Creek Hospital.
