2nd Annual Georgia Afterschool & Youth Development Conference

September 15, 2014

Lawrenceville, GA, September 4 -- On behalf of the Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Georgia Department of Public Health and the Governor's Office of Children and Families, we are pleased to announce the second annual Georgia Afterschool and Youth Development Conference. Geared toward anyone who works with or comes in contact with children and youth, this collaborative effort between the various governmental agencies is designed to create a unified vision and support system across Georgia.

Each day, tens of thousands of Georgia's youth throughout the state rely on programs and services designed to address the many needs and challenges they face. This conference will be geared towards the leaders of these programs and services in an effort to increase their reach, quality, collaboration, and overall impact for preparing Georgia's youth to make successful transitions into adulthood.

Please join us from October 8-10 in Augusta as we come together to celebrate Georgia's afterschool and youth development organizations and learn about what all of us can do to make a lasting impact on Georgia's youth.

The 2014 conference will include workshops presented by nationally recognized speakers including Michael Brandwein, Leading to Change, and Foundations, Inc. among others, a unique opportunity to experience a “Learning Lab” that models ten afterschool and youth development appropriate activities and a World Café focused on bridging the knowledge gained from the conference with real world application.

The conference has applied for and expects to receive Professional Learning Unit (PLU) credit from the Georgia Department of Education and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from the National Association of Social Workers – Georgia Chapter and the Prevention Credentialing Consortium of Georgia. More information and registration may be found atwww.georgiaasydconference.com. The deadline to register is September 19 at 5 pm.
