Deal appoints 15 to boards

Rebecca Kirk, Georgia Board of Landscape Architects (reappointment)
Kirk is the vice president of landscape architecture and civil engineering at Southern A&E, LLC. She is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and active in the Georgia chapter of ASLA. Kirk earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University. She and her husband, Robert, have two children. They reside in Sandy Springs.

Scott Weinberg, Georgia Board of Landscape Architects
Weinberg retired as a professor from the College of Environment and Design at the University of Georgia, where he served as associate dean and interim dean during his 30-year tenure. He has been a registered landscape architect in Georgia for more than 32 years. Weinberg is a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. Weinberg and his wife, Janelle, have one child. They reside in Athens.

Wendy Williamson, Georgia Commission on Child Support (reappointment)
Williamson is the executive director of the Mediation Center of Savannah. She is an attorney and a mediator registered in civil, domestic violence and juvenile delinquency mediation. Williamson was president of the Savannah Bar Association. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Georgia. Williamson and her husband, James, have four children and reside in Savannah.

Heidi Altman, Georgia Council on American Indian Concerns (reappointment) 
Altman is an associate professor of Anthropology at Georgia Southern University. She is a member of the Society for Applied Anthropology, the American Anthropological Association and the Southern Anthropological Society. Altman earned a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Anthropology from Florida State University. She also earned a doctoral degree in Anthropology from the University of California at Davis. She has one son and resides in Statesboro.

Frances Crews, Georgia Council on American Indian Concerns (reappointment)
Crews is the chief financial officer for the Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Council and an ordained minister. She sits on the board of directors of the McKinney Medical Center. Crews earned a bookkeeping degree from Okefenokee Technical College. She has five children and three grandchildren. Crews resides in Blackshear.

Donald Kirkland, Georgia Council on American Indian Concerns (reappointment)
Kirkland is a program specialist for the Go Build Georgia initiative at the Georgia Department of Economic Development and sits on the board of directors of the Governor’s Interstate Indian Council. Kirkland earned a bachelor’s degree in Managerial Science and a master’s degree in Education from Georgia State University. He resides in Atlanta. 

Nealie McCormick, Georgia Council on American Indian Concerns (reappointment)
McCormick is the chief of police for the city of Pelham and has more than 37 years of law enforcement experience. He is a Muskogee Creek Indian and a member of the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe. He is an adviser for federal, state and local agencies on Indian affairs. McCormick is a graduate of the Albany Regional Police Academy. He and his wife, Marian, have two children and four grandchildren. They reside in Pelham.

Royce McCrary, Georgia Council on American Indian Concerns
McCrary is a third-generation farmer in Worth County and a member of the Lower Muscogee Tribe. He is active in the Worth County Young Farmers and the Alpha Gama Rho fraternity. He and his wife, Deborah, have six children and six grandchildren. They reside in Oakfield.

M. Jared Wood, Ph.D., Georgia Council on America Indian Concerns
Wood is an assistant professor at Georgia Southern University, focusing on American Indian studies and archaeology. He is a member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists, the Society of American Archaeology, the Southeastern Archaeological Conference, the Society for Georgia Archaeology and the Georgia Council of Professional Archaeologists. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Middle Tennessee State University and a doctoral degree in Anthropology from the University of Georgia. Wood and his wife, Inger, have one child. They reside in Statesboro.

Donald Banks, Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council
Banks is a retired police officer and former SWAT team member for the Macon Police Department. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and sits on the Civil Service Board for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Banks and his wife, Norma, have four children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They reside in Macon.

Duncan Johnson, Jr., North Georgia Mountains Authority
Johnson is the president of Johnson Motor Company. He sits on the Board of Natural Resources and is the chairman of Camp Lakeside Pediatric Camps and the Augusta University Community Cancer Board. Johnson is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and sits on the organization’s board. He and his wife, Kaci, have two children. They reside in Augusta.

S. Aaron McWhorter, North Georgia Mountains Authority (reappointment)
McWhorter is the owner and president of North Georgia Turf, Inc. and Sports Turf Company Inc. He is a current member of the General Contractors Licensing Board, Association of General Contractor Board of Directors and a past president of the Georgia Turfgrass Association. He is a member of the West Georgia Regional Water Council, the Carroll County Water Authority and a member of the Department of Natural Resources Board. McWhorter is a past board member of the American Sports Builders Association. He earned a bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Education from the University of West Georgia. He resides in Whitesburg with his wife, Linda. They have three children and five grandchildren. 

Jeff “Bodine” Sinyard, North Georgia Mountains Authority
Sinyard is the owner and president of Adams Exterminators, Inc. He sits on the Board of Natural Resources, the board of directors for SunTrust Bank of South Georgia, the board of trustees of Darton State College, the Georgia Military Affairs Coordinating Committee, the Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission and the board of governors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Sinyard was also the chair of the Dougherty County Commission, the Dougherty Area Regional Transportation Authority, the Albany Dougherty Payroll Development Authority and a trustee of Leadership Georgia. He and his wife, Lillie, have three children. They reside in Albany.

Philip Wilheit, Jr., North Georgia Mountains Authority (reappointment)
Wilheit is a partner at Wilheit Packaging, LLC. He is chairman of the board of directors of the United Way of Hall County and chair-elect of the board of directors of the John Jarrard Foundation. Wilheit also sits on the Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia Advisory Board, the Junior Achievement board of directors and the Board of Natural Resources. He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia. Wilheit earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a master’s degree in Business from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Addie, have two children. They reside in Gainesville.

Clayton Huffman, State Board of Accountancy
Huffman is a manager for Frazier & Deeter, LLC. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSPCA). He serves on the GSPCSA Leadership Council and the Young CPAs Advisory Council. Huffman earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Andrea, reside in Atlanta.
