Deal appoints nine to boards
Shaun Veal, Sandersville School Building Authority
Veal is the auditor of freight accounts at Sandersville Railroad Co. He is on the board of directors of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, is the president of the Washington County Historical Society and is a member of the Fall Line Artist Guild and Georgia Municipal Cemetery Association. Veal earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Georgia College & State University. He resides in Sandersville.
Robert Andra Jenkins, Sandersville School Building Authority
Jenkins is a funeral director and embalmer for M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Inc. He is a member of the Sandersville Downtown Development Authority, Oconee Fall Line Technical College LIFE Board, Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, New Birth Christian Ministries board of deacons and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Georgia and a 2010 graduate of Leadership Washington County. Jenkins earned a degree in Funeral Service Science from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. He and his wife, Kristi, have three children. They reside in Sandersville.
Susan Lewis, Sandersville School Building Authority
Lewis is a licensed financial adviser for H.D. Vest. She is a member of the Sandersville Downtown Development Authority and the Washington County Historical Society. She also is the chairman of the Downtown Sandersville Farmers Market Committee and the Sandersville Community Theater. Lewis has two children and resides in Sandersville.
Larry Eugene Renfroe, Sandersville School Building Authority
Renfroe prior to retiring was an office manager with the Washington County EMC. He is on the board of the Fall Line Artists Guild. Renfroe studied at the University of Georgia. He resides in Sandersville.
Ed Jordan, Sandersville School Building Authority
Jordan recently retired from his position of owner of Jordan Farm & Nursery. He previously was a division manager and director of the Georgia Mining Association and U.S. Clay Producers. He is on the Georgia Rural Development Council. Jordan served as chairman for the McDuffie County Hospital Authority, as president of the Wrightsboro Historical Foundation in Thomson and most recently as president of the Washington County Historical Society. Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Dianne, have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Warthen.
Clyde Randall Mayberry, Sandersville School Building Authority
Mayberry is the director of International Sales for Thiele Kaolin Co., where he has worked for 30 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia College & State University. Mayberry and his wife, Cathy, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Sandersville.
Joe Sam Robinson, Jr., Georgia Composite Medical Board
Robinson is the president of the Georgia Neurosurgical Institute. Robinson is the author of “Toward Healthcare Resources Stewardship” and is currently working on his second book. He is a former member of the Georgia Board of Physician Workforce and Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a medical degree from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Betsy, have two children. They reside in Macon.
John Downey, Georgia Composite Medical Board
Downey is a pain management specialist and the owner of the Royal Pain Center in Augusta. He is a major in the U.S. Army and trained at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Downey is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England. He and his wife, Cindy, have four children and four grandchildren. They reside in Augusta.
Merry W. Fort, Georgia Board of Nursing
Fort is the vice president of clinical services for Accountable Healthcare Staffing. She is a member of the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders at both the district and state levels. Fort is also active in the American Organization of Nurse Executives. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a nursing degree from Macon State College. Fort and her husband, Samuel, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Macon.
