Deal names Public Defender Standards Council leader
Gov. Nathan Deal today named attorney Bryan Tyson as executive director of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. The Georgia Public Defender Standards Council ensures that public defenders work effectively, promptly and ethically to assist clients. Tyson's hiring takes effect Monday.

Tyson previously worked as an attorney with Strickland Brockington Lewis LLP. He is the 2014-2015 Section Chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Georgia and represented the State of Georgia as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the 2011 redistricting process. Prior to admission to the bar, Tyson worked in the Georgia General Assembly and for Rep. Lynn Westmoreland in Washington, D.C. Tyson earned his law degree magna cum laude from the Oak Brook College of Law. Tyson and his wife, Shelley, live in Marietta with their three children.
