Deal appoints three to boards

Clint Hobbs, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Hobbs is the vice president for Enrollment Management and External Relations at Young Harris College. He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and currently serves as treasurer of the Georgia Education Articulation Committee. He chairs the Towns County Fire and Rescue Board and is past master of Stephens Lodge #414. Hobbs holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He resides in Young Harris.

S. Sam Lim, Georgia Council on Lupus Education and Awareness

Lim is associate professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Emory University School of Medicine and chief of Rheumatology for Grady Health Systems. He has devoted his clinical and research career to improving the lives of those suffering from lupus. He directs two of the largest dedicated lupus clinics in the state, one at Grady Hospital and the other at Emory University Hospital-Midtown. He is also the principal investigator in several lupus studies funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, pharmaceutical companies and foundations. Lim earned a medical degree from State University of New York at Brooklyn and a master’s degree from Emory University. He has two children and resides in Peachtree Corners.

James E. “Trey” Allen, State Board of Education

Allen serves as the founding president and chief executive officer of Learning Express Toys and acts as site manager and client liaison for MAU Workforce Solutions in Augusta. He also serves as vice chairman on the Columbia County Commission, overseeing the county Management and Finance Committee as well as serving on the Public Works Committee. Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in Small Business Management and Consulting from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Susy, have two children. They reside in Martinez.
