Deal appoints five to boards

Victoria Agyekum, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Agyekum is co-founder of Dominion Health Care Solutions, a proprietary school dedicated to providing quality training in nurses’ aide, patient care and phlebotomy. She previously served as director of the Nursing program at Savannah Technical College. Agyekum earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. She and her husband, Stephen, have three children and two grandchildren. They reside in Savannah.

Toby R. Hinton, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Hinton is vice president for Financial Services at Brenau University. He joined Brenau with more than 20 years of experience in financial accounting and auditing of colleges and universities. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the American Association of Certified Public Accountants. Hinton earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business administration from Presbyterian College. He is licensed by the state of Georgia as a certified public accountant. He and his wife, Suzanne, have two children. They reside in Suwanee.

Debra Sue Wade, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Wade is the director of Compliance and Administration at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Duluth. She is past-president and founding member of the Elkhart Luncheon Optimist Club in Elkhart, IN. Wade holds multiple awards in leadership and service. She has three children and eight grandchildren. She resides in Conyers.

Paul B. Freeman, Sexual Offender Registration Review Board

Freeman retired as Victim Specialist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Atlanta Field Office.  He has served on board of directors for the National Organization for Victim Assistance, the Georgia Council on Elder Abuse and was a member of the National Victim Assistance Standards Review Consortium. Freeman earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Counseling and Human Services from Florida State University and is a licensed professional counselor. He and his wife, Vikki, reside in Atlanta.

Karen Gilbert, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Gilbert is the associate vice president for Human Resources at Agnes Scott College. She has worked in the field of human resources for 35 years. Before coming to Agnes Scott, she served as both a human resources generalist and employment director in the retail and technology industries. She served for two years as chapter secretary of the Georgia College and University Professional Association for Human Resources and is a member of the National College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, as well as the Society for Human Resources Managers. Gilbert earned a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and holds a senior professional in Human Resources designation. Karen has two adult sons and resides in Jonesboro.
