Deal appoints six to boards

David G. Hanna, Invest Georgia Board

Hanna is co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Atlanticus Holdings Corp. He is a founding member of two private schools in Atlanta, Holy Spirit Preparatory School and Solidarity School. He serves on the board of directors of Piedmont Healthcare. Hanna earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Kim, have three children. They are active members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and reside in Atlanta.

Charles B. Thompson, Invest Georgia Board

Thompson is co-owner and principal of Eco-Capital Advisors, LLC. He is a former board member of the National Mitigation Banking Association and was a founding board member of the Georgia Environmental Restoration Association. In addition, he is co-founder and co-owner of American Spirit Whiskey, LLC. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a master’s degree in Business Administration and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Liles, reside in Atlanta with their two children.

William D. Young, Jr., Invest Georgia Board

Young is a partner with Atlanta-based General Wholesale Co. He serves on the board at Marist School and is past-chairman and a current trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation. He is a member of the University of Georgia Athletic Board and serves as president of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia. Young earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Margaret, have two children. They reside in Atlanta.

Trey Childress, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Childress is currently a partner at Perdue Partners, LLC. He previously served as chief operating officer for Gov. Nathan Deal and former Gov. Sonny Perdue. He also served as director of the Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget and as the Governor’s Senior Adviser & Director of Policy for Perdue. He serves on the board of advisors for Georgia Regents University and Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and System Engineering, a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and a master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgia Tech. He resides in Atlanta.

Holly C. Kirbo, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Kirbo is an attorney with Kirbo Law Firm. She previously served as associate general counsel for Flowers Foods, Inc. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the finance committee for her church. Kirbo earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a law degree from the University of Georgia. She and her husband, Cliff, have 9-year-old triplets. They reside in Moultrie.

Ryan D. Worsley, Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Worsley is the executive administrator and general counsel for Cornerstone Church in Athens. He served for seven years as an associate attorney with Anderson, Tate, & Carr, P.C., where he still remains of counsel. Worsley earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from LaGrange College and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Kristin, have two sons. They reside in Bogart.
