Deal appoints 5 to boards

William H. Tate, Jr., Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority

Tate is the industrial development manager for Norfolk Southern Railway. He is a 32-year veteran with Norfolk Southern. Tate earned a bachelor’s degree in Transportation from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He and his wife, Stephanie, have three sons. They reside in Atlanta.

Alvin “Al” Nash, Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (reappointment)

Nash has more than 35 years of business experience in the real estate development business. He has demonstrated his commitment to the community by serving as a leader of some of the region’s and state’s most influential business and civic organizations. Nash earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Judy, have two children and three grandchildren. They reside in Roswell.

Richard A. (Dick) Anderson, Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (reappointment)

Anderson is a senior adviser to Airo Wireless. He has previously served as vice chairman of BellSouth Corp., chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve, executive director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Business Administration from Murray State University. He and his, wife, Maureen, have three children. They reside in Alpharetta.

Pedro C. Cherry, Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority

Cherry is vice president of Community & Economic Development at Georgia Power. He serves on the board of directors of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance, Junior Achievement of Georgia, Great Promise Kids and the State of Georgia Children’s Cabinet. He is also an adviser to the board of directors of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. He is a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, CFA Institute, Association for Financial Professionals, NAACP and Auburn’s Alumni Engineering Advisory Council. Cherry earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Auburn University. He and his wife, Tomeka, have two children. They reside in Atlanta.

J. Randall Frost, Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority

Frost is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is the managing partner of Stewart, Melvin & Frost. He serves on the board of directors of the Gainesville Arts Council, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and is a past-chairman. He is a past-chairman of the Gainesville City Board of Education and a past-president of Kiwanis. Frost earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He and his wife, Susan, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Gainesville.
