Deal: Medical devices company to create 120 jobs in Fayette County
German-based Gerresheimer to expand operations in Peachtree City, investing millions
Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Gerresheimer Peachtree City, LP, a manufacturer of complex drug delivery systems, will expand in Fayette County, creating 120 jobs and investing double-digit millions into the expansion.

Our state is the ideal location to support Gerresheimer’s newest expansion.”
The German-based company will build an additional 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on the 35-acre campus located along Highway 75 North. The facility will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing operations intended to produce complex medical devices, such as inhalers for safe medication dosage and application. The facility’s products will be distributed throughout North America. The extension of the facility starts in 2014, and operations are planned to begin in 2015.
“We’re experiencing worldwide growth in demand for user-friendly, safe and easy to use medical devices such as inhalers and insulin pens,” said Andreas Schütte, member of the management board of Gerresheimer AG with responsibility for the Plastics & Devices Division. “As a result of this growth, and new customer projects, our excellent plant in Peachtree City will significantly increase its production capacity. There are a great many opportunities for us in this business segment in the U.S., and our Peachtree City facility will play a crucial role in helping us to exploit them. We greatly appreciate the generous support of the state and local authorities in Georgia in this challenging project.”
Two-thirds of the additional production area will be ISO class 8 cleanroom. Gerresheimer is taking advantage of Georgia’s internationally acclaimed workforce training program, Quick Start. The approximately 120 new jobs to be created in the medium term will include executive, administrative, supervisory and production positions.
Gerresheimer first established a production facility in Peachtree City in 1993 along Highway 74 South, and expanded in 2009 with the establishment of a Technical Competence Center (TCC). The company’s expansion will continue to develop the advanced production and development practices in place at the Peachtree City location and will expand the workforce. The 120 new jobs created by the expansion will include executive, administrative, supervisory and production positions.
Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) senior project manager Lindsay Martin and GDEcD managing director for the international office in Munich Antje Abshoff assisted the company on behalf of the state, partnering with project manager Emily Poole with the Fayette County Development Authority.
