Deal appoints 10 to boards

Wilson currently serves as chief academic officer for Calhoun City Schools. She has been an adjunct professor for the University of Georgia and Lincoln Memorial University, served on doctoral dissertation committees for Liberty University and taught courses for Northwest Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency. Wilson completed her doctoral degree from the University of Georgia in Workforce Education. She is a member of the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. She and her husband, Michael, have two children. They reside in Calhoun.

 

Burnett is the deputy executive director of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). She joined GAWP in 2012, after serving as vice president and senior water resources practitioner with AECOM. She previously served as chair of Georgia Southern University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology Advisory Board. Burnett earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin. She is graduate of Leadership Cobb 2008, Senior Leadership Gwinnett 2013 and the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership 2010. She has two grown children and resides in Brookhaven. 

 

Woodruff is a licensed professional engineer, and president and chief executive officer of Woodruff & Howe Environmental Engineering, Inc. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, American Water Works Association, Georgia Association of Water Professionals, American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He serves on the board of directors and executive committee for the Georgia Agribusiness Council and the Cherokee County Water & Sewerage Authority. Woodruff earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children. They reside in Canton.

 

Huling serves as an executive in Residence with Georgia Tech’s Strategic Energy Institute. He retired from Georgia Power as vice president of Environmental Affairs after 36 years of service. He serves on the advisory boards for the State of Georgia Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, Georgia Tech’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering. He is a member of Georgia Tech’s Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni and was named 2012 Engineer of the Year in Industry in Georgia. Huling earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Becky, have two married children. They reside in Mableton.

 

Currey retired from RockTenn Company in 2000, where he served as chairman, president and chief executive officer. He currently serves on the board of Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Stakeholders Inc., Brown & Brown, Inc., the Carter Center and GRA Venture Fund LLC. He has previously served on and chaired the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Emory University, the Lovett School, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Woodruff Arts Center. Currey earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and holds an honorary doctorate from Emory University. He and his wife, Sally, have four children and 10 grandchildren. They reside in Atlanta.

 

Dunlap is president and chief executive officer of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce; she has held this position since January 1997. She currently serves on the board of Trustees of Brenau University and board of directors of SunTrust Bank, Northeast Georgia. She previously served on the board of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade & Tourism for 10 years and served as chairman for two years. She was a founding member of the Gainesville-Hall County Economic Development Council in 1992 and served as the council’s first chairman. Dunlap has two children and two grandchildren. She resides in Gainesville.

 

Jackson is a retired civil engineer. He currently serves on the of the University of Toledo’s Industrial Advisory Board and previously served on the Georgia Tech School of Civil and Environmental Advisory Board. He is the current president of the Jackson-Davis Foundation. He is a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, 100 Black Men of Atlanta and Black Pilots of America. Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Toledo and a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Edith, have one daughter and two grandchildren. They reside in Alpharetta.

 

Burdette is the owner and chief executive officer of Glasstech Services Inc., a CAD contract drafting service for the commercial glass and glazing industry nationwide. He is also the owner of Blueprint Conversion Technology LLP and a founding partner in GMTEC, a software development company catering to the commercial glass and glazing industry. He is a member of the Athens Area Hunter Jumper Association. Burdette earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. Upon graduation he received the prestigious Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award in recognition of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Citizenship. He and his wife, Trish, reside in Greensboro.

 

Whisenant is co-owner of EyeCare Associates, P.C. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Southern Council of Optometrists and the Georgia Optometric Association, where he has served as president and chairman of the board of directors. Whisenant earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. He and his wife, Gayle, have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Gainesville.

 

Yaughn is the director of Fostering Families Inc. and an employee of Broken Shackle Ranch. He is the former owner of Yaughn Countertops. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. He and his wife, Kim, have three children. They reside in Statesboro.
