Deal appoints 18 to boards

Howard R. Sills, County and Municipal Probation Advisory Council (reappointment)

Sills is currently serving his fifth term as sheriff of Putnam County. He previously served as vice president of security for SunTrust Bank in Atlanta. He is the longtime chair of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Legislative Committee and is immediate past-president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. He was awarded Georgia “Sheriff of the Year” in 2008 and 2013. Sills earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Mercer University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the National Sheriffs Institute. He and his wife, Janet, have one son. They reside in Eatonton.

Michael J. Terrell, County and Municipal Probation Advisory Council (reappointment)

Terrell currently serves as chief state court probation officer for Coweta County. He has been employed by the county for 17 years. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Probation and Parole Association and the Georgia Probation Association. Terrell received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of West Georgia. He is an active member of Newnan First United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children.

Ellison G. Wood, Board of Public Safety (reappointment)

Wood is president of Ellis Wood Contracting, Inc. He also serves as chairman of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport Committee. Wood earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Kathy, have two children and four grandchildren. They reside in Statesboro.

Joey Terrell, Board of Public Safety (reappointment)

Terrell is the sheriff of Habersham County. He currently serves on the advisory board for North Georgia Technical College’s criminal justice program and the board of the Mountain Judicial Circuit NCIS unit. He is a member of the Georgia and National Association of Sheriffs. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He and his wife, Darlene, have two children. They reside in Clarkesville.

Kacy K. Cronan, Board of Public Safety (reappointment)

Cronan is the marketing/sales manager of Nature’s Way, a bio-solids compost product, and the certified operator of Gainesville Waste and Recycling and C & D Landfill. He and his wife, Amanda, have two sons. They reside in Clermont.

Danny D. Bowman, Board of Public Safety (reappointment)

Bowman currently serves as Forsyth County’s fire chief. He was previously a member of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Fulton County Fire Department. He is past president of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and was named “Georgia Fire Chief of the Year” in 2010. He and his wife, Donna, have five children and eight grandchildren. They reside in Cumming.

Craig Tully, Board of Public Safety (reappointment)

Tully serves as fire chief of the Colquitt Miller Fire EMS Department, where he has been the chief for 33 years. He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and currently serves as secretary. Tully is a deacon at Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church. He and his wife, Cindy, have three children. They reside in Colquitt. 

William C. McGahan, State Housing Trust Fund for the Homeless Commission (reappointment)

McGahan currently serves as board president of From Houses to Homes, a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization. He is a former investment banker. He sits on many community and nonprofit boards, including the Atlanta Academy, the Paces Civic Association, the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction and the United Way’s Regional Commission on Homelessness. McGahan earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Lisa, have four children. They reside in Atlanta.

Don Geary, Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission

Geary is the chief assistant district attorney for Cobb County. He was previously the DeKalb chief assistant district attorney, Gwinnett senior assistant district attorney, and Fulton assistant district attorney. He also is an adjunct professor of law at Emory Law School. He is a retired U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and holds a commercial pilot’s license. Geary earned a law degree Georgia State University. He and his wife, Robin, have seven children. They reside in Lawrenceville.

James Joseph “JJ” Biello, Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (reappointment)

Biello is a retired officer with the Atlanta Police Department. He currently serves on the board of directors for Diaz Foods. He is a former Cherokee County commissioner and former director of security for the SunTrust Company Bank, Peaches Record Store, Buckhead Life Restaurants, Diaz Foods, the Lovett School, and Houston’s Restaurant. He was the chairman for Cherokee County Parks and Recreation Agency for 20 years and chairman of St. Michael’s Catholic Church building committee. He and his wife, Barbara, have two sons and four grandchildren. They reside in Woodstock.

Hunter E. Towns, Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (reappointment)

Towns is a partner with Georgia Capitol Partners Public Affairs. He also has his own LLC, Towns Public Affairs. He previously served as legislative affairs director for former Gov. Sonny Perdue’s first administration. In 2004, he left state government and has been a governmental affairs consultant in the private sector ever since. Towns earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He resides in Alamo.

 Antwan L. Treadway, Georgia Board of Dentistry

Treadway is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He currently serves on the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Committee on Anesthesia. He is a past president of the Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Treadway is a member of the Atlanta Oral and Facial Surgery Group. He is an active member of the Georgia Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Society, the North Georgia Dental Society, and the American and National Dental Associations. He and his wife, Cassandra, have two children. They reside in Villa Rica.

Jerry D. Warshaw, Georgia Real Estate Commission

Warshaw is the chief executive officer and founder of Warshaw Properties, Inc. He currently serves on the board of the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation, and LenBrook, a CCRC Community. He has served in various capacities in professional associations, including chairman of the National Apartment Association, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012. He was the president of PH’96, the official sanctioned Private Housing coordinator for the 1996 Olympic Games. Warshaw earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech. He and his wife, Susie, have three children and five grandchildren. They reside in Sandy Springs.

David J. Burge, Georgia Real Estate Commission (reappointment)

Burge is a commercial real estate lawyer and partner in Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP in Atlanta. He serves on the board of the Atlanta Boy Scout Council and is a council representative to the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is past chairman of both the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Real Estate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. Burge earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from the University of North Carolina. He and his wife, Sally, have two sons. They reside in Atlanta.

Brian D. Anderson, State Workforce Investment Board

Anderson is the president and chief executive officer of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the board of directors for the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, Georgia Northwestern Technical College and the Thrive 2055 Regional Initiative. Anderson is the past chairman of the Whitfield County Commission and a past president of Dalton Rotary Club. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Frances Marion University. He and his wife, Heather, have two children. They reside in Dalton.

Lynne J. Wilson, Career and Technical Advisory Commission

Wilson is the director of Career, Technical and Agriculture Education (CTAE) and Public Relations for Lowndes County Schools. She is a member of the CTAE Resource Network Board of Administrators and a past president of the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE). Wilson is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees. She is the mother of four children and resides in Valdosta.

Wayne Randall, Career and Technical Advisory Commission

Randall is the executive director for College and Career Readiness for Franklin County Schools. He has served in the administration of the Franklin County High School in the roles of Career, Technical and Agriculture education director, assistant principal, associate principal and principal. He began his career as an Agriculture teacher, where he mentored several state and national winners in the National Future Farmers of America Organization and was named Teacher of the Year in 2000. He and his wife, Paige, have three children. They reside in Lavonia.

James G. Cunningham, Technical College System of Georgia Board
Cunningham is a licensed master plumber and the owner of Superior Plumbing Services, Inc. He currently serves on Governor’s Workforce Development Committee, the Cobb Chamber Workforce Development Committee, the Cobb County School Board Superintendents Business and Community Advisory Board, the Plumbing and Mechanical Association of Georgia Board of Directors, the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia Board, the Must Ministries Board, the SPLOST Citizens Oversight Committee and the Strand Theater Board. Cunningham is a graduate of North Cobb High School. He has seven children and they reside in Powder Springs.
