Yachiyo of America Inc. to bring more than 200 jobs to Carroll County

October 15, 2013
Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Yachiyo of America Inc. will open a manufacturing plant in Carrollton. The new 130,000-square-foot facility will bring more than 200 jobs within three years and represents a $30 million investment. Yachiyo, a globally recognized automotive supplier, manufactures plastic fuel tanks and sunroofs.

“Yachiyo joins an ever-growing group of automotive leaders in Georgia,” said Deal. “Our strategic location at the center of the Southeast, which is the nation’s new hub for automotive manufacturing, and our workforce’s 100 years of experience in this industry, have contributed to a business climate that has already attracted some 250 automotive manufacturers.”

Japan-based Yachiyo has chosen Carrollton Industrial Park as the site for its new facility, an expansion of the company’s current North American plastic fuel tank and sunroof capacity. Yachiyo will use Georgia’s renowned Quick Start program, the nation’s top-ranked customized workforce training program, in conjunction with West Georgia Technical College to train its associates.

“We have been extremely pleased with the high level of interest, cooperation and support received from the State of Georgia and Carroll County, which played a decisive role in our decision-making process,” said Chris Smith, Vice President of Yachiyo of America Inc.

Brittany Holtzclaw was the project manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, which partnered with Carroll Tomorrow to help the company locate its new facility.

“We are very proud to welcome Yachiyo to our community, and we stand ready to assist them in their continued prosperity for the benefit of our citizens," said Carrollton Mayor Wayne Garner.

“Georgia’s automotive suppliers are as diverse as their customers,” said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “The fact that Georgia attracts suppliers for just about every major automaker there is, rather than just a handful, says a lot about our ability to anticipate their needs and deliver on them.”
