Deal appoints 17 to boards

Sutherland is chairman of the board of Sutherland’s Foodservice, Inc. and currently serves on the governing board of Woodward Academy. He is also a board member of Piedmont College, AgriTrust of Georgia, Georgia Agribusiness Council, and the Atlanta Produce Dealers Association. He has four children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He resides in Jonesboro.

 

Hulsey is the president of Hulsey Environmental Services, Inc. and LHR Farms, Inc. He is active in Gainesville First Baptist Church and has been involved in many civic organizations. Hulsey earned a bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College and State University. He and his wife, Cinda, have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Gainesville.

 

Page has more than 35 years of criminal justice experience ranging from deputy sheriff to parole/probation officer. In 1993, he founded Georgia Probation Management and is currently the chief executive officer. Page earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Brenau University. He and his wife, Leslie, have three children. They reside in Cumming.

 

Johnson has worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission since 1986 and currently serves as the forest management chief. He is a registered forester, certified prescribed burner, member of the Society of American Foresters, commercial pesticide applicator, and advisory committee member for School of Forestry & Wildlife at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Forest Management from Clemson University. He is an active member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Carol, have two children. They reside in Madison.

 

Laurens has spent the majority of his career as a marketing executive in the consumer electronics industry. He is currently a marketing consultant with clients in the ophthalmic and scientific instruments industries. He serves on the board of directors of Creative Enterprises, Inc., a Lawrenceville-based nonprofit corporation that helps people with disabilities acquire job skills. He has served for more than 15 years as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America, most recently as Cubmaster of Pack 598 in Buford. Laurens earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a master’s degree of Business Administration from Regis University in Denver. He and his wife, Mary Ann, have three children. They reside in Alpharetta.

 

Valley currently teaches a course on Social Welfare Policy Analysis at Georgia State University. He is the retired vice president of Families First, an Atlanta nonprofit agency. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree in Social Service from the University of Chicago. He and his wife, Elanna, have two children. They reside in Atlanta.

 

Cochran is the retired director of WORKTEC, a program that operates through Clayton County Public Schools with the purpose of providing employment support to people with disabilities and other career obstacles. She serves on the Clayton United Way Advisory Board, Friend’s Board, and the Visiting Friends of Clayton County Advisory Board. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Clayton County and East/College Park alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Cochran earned a bachelor’s degree from Clark College and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. She is a member of New Life Presbyterian Church where she is food pantry coordinator. She and her husband, Eddie, have three children and six grandchildren. They reside in College Park.  

 

Smith retired as a financial adviser, having owned a franchise of Ameriprise Financial Services. He chairs the Richmond County Board of Assessors and the board of directors of the Carpentersville Community Development Corp. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Paine College and holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and Certified Senior Adviser designations. He has one son. Smith resides in Augusta.

 

Douglass retired as director of Student Services for the Muscogee County School District. After retirement, he worked as vice president and director of Human Resources for the local Goodwill Industries Inc., and as director of Fourth Street Towers, a housing ministry for Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. He is a member of the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation and the Preservation Committee of the Historic Columbus Foundation. Douglass earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Tuskegee University, an educational specialist degree from Georgia State University, and a master’s degree from Troy University. He and his wife have one child and one grandchild. They reside in Columbus.

 

Tatum is the vice president of Government and Community Relations for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He currently serves on the boards of directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Voices for Georgia’s Children and chairs the board of Georgia Health News. Tatum attended West Georgia College and the University of Georgia where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children. They reside in Cumming.

 

Galloway is state director of Americans for Prosperity. She serves on the board of directors for the Georgia Department of Driver Services, and is a member of Church at the Ridge, Paulding Republican Party, and the Dallas Rotary Club. Galloway attended Georgia State University. She and her husband, Darrell, have four children and two grandchildren. They reside in Hiram.

 

Mathis is a retired real estate agent with Re/Max Metro Atlanta. She previously worked as a regional manager for United Hospice, as the State Long Term Care Ombudsman and as a social services director in a nursing home. She was instrumental in the formation of the Georgia Association of Nursing Home Social Workers and the Georgia Association of Nursing Home Activity Directors. She earned a master’s degree in Public Administration and a graduate certificate in Gerontology from Georgia State University. She and her husband, Philip, reside in Atlanta. 

 

Morgan is a community relations project manager for Georgia Power. She serves on the boards of directors for INROADS Southeast Region and the Atlanta Public Schools’ Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education program. A graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and Leadership in Athens, Morgan has served on numerous nonprofit boards in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Management from Troy University. She has one child. They reside in Atlanta.

 

Brooks is the associate pastor of First Baptist Church in Cochran where his major focus is directing senior adult ministries. He has served as moderator of the Pulaski-Bleckley Baptist Association, a member of the Disaster Relief Unit 1-F Feeding Team, and as a trustee of the Baptist Village Retirement Communities. He is also a master trainer of Powerful Tools for Caregivers, sponsored by the Rosalynn Carter Institute, and is a member of the executive committee of the Georgia Council on Aging. Brooks is a graduate of Brewton Parker College, Georgia Southwestern College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children. They reside in Cochran.

 

Crews retired from Satilla Care Center as an administrative assistant. She currently serves as the chief financial officer for the Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Council and on the board of directors of the McKinney Medical Center. She is also an ordained minister. Crews earned a bookkeeping degree from Okefenokee Technical College. She has five children and three grandchildren. Crews resides in Blackshear.

 

Cole is the general manager of AutoZone’s Distribution Center serving the South East United States and Puerto Rico. He is an AutoZone’s Starters Club member, President’s Club Member and former Manager of the Year. He is a former board member of the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Cole attended Auburn University. He and his wife, Marla, have four children and three grandchildren. They reside in Commerce.

 

Chapman is the director of Commercial/Industrial Marketing with Jackson Electric Membership Corp. He has served on numerous boards and is a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. Chapman earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Brenau University. He and his wife, Karen, have two children. They reside in Gainesville.
