Deal appoints 18 to boards

Anderson was born and raised on a farm in Columbia County. He is a full-time farmer and businessman. He has served on the Columbia County Board of Education, on the Columbia County Commission and in the Georgia House of Representatives. He is an active member in the Columbia County Farm Bureau and member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association. Lee attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Brewton Parker College. He and his wife, Donna, have two children. They reside in Grovetown. 

 

Bagwell has worked for Jackson EMC for 41 years. He currently serves as district coordinator of Engineering and Operations. He is vice chair of the Northeast Georgia Health System board, chairman of the Gainesville Hall County Hospital Authority, and vice chair of the Gainesville Hall County Development Authority. He is a member of Chestnut Mountain Church and member and past president of South Hall Rotary. He has served as past president of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and the Lanier Area Utility Association. He served as a trustee for Lanier Technical Institute. He and his wife, Susan, have two children and three grandchildren. They reside in Flowery Branch. 

 

Cook serves as chief financial officer of Pine Leaf Investments, a nursing home management company that was founded by her late father, Buford Cook. She serves on the Legislative, Reimbursement and Regulatory Committees of the Georgia Health Care Association. She is an active member of the McRae United Methodist Church. Cook earned an associate’s degree from Middle Georgia College and a bachelor’s degree from Brewton Parker College. She resides in McRae. 

 

Jeffords is owner, director and instructor for Gina’s Academy of Dance, Baton and Acrobatics. She is a member of the National Baton Twirling Association, the Dance Educators of America, and the Professional Dance Teacher Association. She is currently director for the National Baton Twirling Association’s Georgia State Twirling Competition. She and her husband, Ed, have two children. They reside in Jesup. 

 

Green is a longtime resident of Thomas County, where he works in the family-owned conditioned air and refrigeration business. He is president of Green’s Air Conditioning & Commercial. He attended Thomas Technical College where he has served on the advisory council for the HVAC program. He and his wife, Kaye, have two children and four grandchildren. They reside in Ochlocknee. 

 

Davis is a navy veteran and former owner of AllWeather Heating & Air Conditioning. He has been active in the creation of the Conditioned Air Association of Georgia and started the first air conditioning school in Jonesboro, now known as Laurus Technical Institute. Davis earned an associate’s degree in Air Conditioning Engineering Technology from Southern Technical Institute.  

 

Burkhalter was elected sheriff of Floyd County in November 2004. He has served with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department for 28 years. He was one of the original organizers of the Cops for Kids program which raises funds for special needs children. He was also instrumental in the organization of the Floyd County Bomb Squad. Burkhalter studied Criminal Justice at Jacksonville State University and is a certified P.O.S.T. Instructor. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes. He is a certified bomb technician and fugitive investigator. He and his wife, Stephanie, have four children. They reside in Lindale. 

 

Dempsey currently serves as a state representative for the 13th District. She is chairman of the Appropriations Human Resources Subcommittee. She has previously served as a member of the majority caucus whip team and as chief deputy whip. In addition to her House leadership positions, Dempsey serves as a member of the First Lady’s Georgia Children’s Cabinet, as the vice chairman of the Joint House & Senate Study Committee on Mental Health Access, as well as on the Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Coordinating Council and the Recreational Authorities Overview Committee. She and her husband, Lynn, have two children and five grandchildren. They reside in Rome. 

 

Cooper currently serves as director of Everyone Can Achieve Program, an opportunity program for 13 to 21-year-olds. The Everyone Can Achieve Program operates out of the Atlanta Dream Center. He and his wife, Katherine, have four children and two grandchildren. They reside in Atlanta. 

 

Baxter has been a licensed nursing home administrator for more than 30 years. She currently serves as the nursing home administrator for Woodstock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She also serves on the Georgia Health Care Association Board. Baxter earned a bachelor’s degree from Covenant College. She and her husband, Helmut, have one son.  

 

Allgood is chairman of the Board of Allgood Pest Solutions, a company he started in 1974. He was chairman of the Structural Pest Control Commission for 20 years and is past president of the Georgia Pest Control Association. He has served as chairman of the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority, the Dublin Rotary Club, and the First United Methodist Church board. Allgood earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, was a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 1993, and was president of Leadership Georgia in 1996. He and his wife, Kathy, have three children and two grandchildren. They reside in Dublin. 

 

McCalley is an attorney and has practiced law in Moultrie since 1977. He was on the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia from 1991-2003. He was the county attorney for Colquitt County from 1983-2006. He has represented the Colquitt County Board of Education since 2009. McCalley earned both a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Amy, have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Moultrie. 

 

Bartlett is the executive director of the Fulton County Republican Party. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of Refugee Resettlement & Immigration Services of Atlanta, is a co-founder and director of Partnerships of the Historic Black College & University College Impact Initiative, is the lead adviser for Everyone Can Achieve Summer Jobs Program for Teens in Atlanta’s Old 4th Ward, and has served as a mentor and fundraiser for Stand Up for Kids — North Fulton Initiative. She is married to Darrell, with whom she has three stepchildren. They reside in Roswell.

 

McIntyre retired after 35 years of teaching in Meriwether County. He is in his fourth decade of serving on the GAE State Spelling Bee Committee, nearing 30 years as its chairman. He has served as head coach of the West Georgia Wolverines Wheelchair Sports Team for more than 10 years. He is an officer of Manchester's American Legion Post 88. He attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army, earning a bronze star and two Army Commendation Medals while serving with the 25th Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Trinity University in San Antonio and a master’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Columbus College in Columbus. He and his wife, Bonnie, have one child and two grandchildren. They reside in Woodland.

 

Locklear is the chief executive officer for Cox Communications and Electronics, Inc. He has worked within the low voltage field for 12 years. He and his wife, Maryjane, have three children. They reside in Gainesville.   

 

Belk retired from Welker and Associates Engineers after 30 years in the civil/environmental field. He served as owner and president for the past 18 years. Belk earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Suzanne, have four children and three grandchildren. They reside in Kennesaw.

 

Painter is a business owner in Whitfield County. He was a member of the Governor’s Health Insurance Exchange Advisory Committee in 2011. Painter served six years in the U.S. Army. He earned three associate degrees from Dalton College and a bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He and his wife, Yong, have one child and five grandchildren. They reside in Dalton.

 

Stone currently serves as a customer service representative with Donnely Communications. She graduated third in her class from Therrell High School of Health Science and Research. She went on to Agnes Scott College to pursue a degree in neuroscience. She resides in Clarkston.
