Deal names McKay to Workers' Compensation

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointment of Frank McKay as chairman of the State Board of Workers' Compensation. McKay fills the vacancy left by outgoing Chairman Richard Thompson. McKay's appointment is effective March 1.

McKay is a partner in the Gainesville law firm Stewart, Melvin & Frost and has practiced law before the Board of Workers' Compensation for 22 years. He is a former special assistant attorney general representing the state of Georgia in workers' compensation claims. He has tried and argued workers' compensation cases before the administrative law judges and Appellate Division of the State Board of Workers' Compensation and in the Superior Courts and Georgia Court of Appeals. He has also served on the State Board's Advisory Council. McKay earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in Economics from Clemson University and his law degree from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He and his wife, Renee, have two children. They reside in Gainesville.
