Deal appoints 11 to boards

Scott Berry, Board of Commissioners of the Sheriff’s Retirement Fund of Georgia
Berry is the sheriff of Oconee County and has served in that position since his election in 1992. He graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy in 1978 and has worked for the Norcross Police Department and the University of Georgia Police Department. Berry has served as chairman of the Regional All Hazards Council, as a chairman of the Police Academy Advisory Board, and as a member of the Georgia Sheriff’s Retirement Fund. He was elected to be president of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association in 2012. Berry has one son and three stepchildren. He and his wife, Tammye, reside in Watkinsville.
 
Frank W. Andrews Jr., Board of Commissioners of the Sheriff’s Retirement Fund of Georgia
Andrews is the sheriff of Rabun County. He serves on the Sid Water Memorial Cancer Fund and the F.A.I.T.H. board. He is a member of Rotary and Masonic Lodge 265 Rabun Gap. He recently was appointed to the Northeast Georgia Boy Scout Council. Andrews and his wife, Donalee, have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Lakemont. 
 
Theodore “Ted” Jackson, Board of Commissioners of the Sheriff’s Retirement Fund of Georgia
Jackson is the sheriff of Fulton County, having been elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2012. He became Fulton County sheriff after a 33-year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring as special agent in charge-Atlanta division. Jackson also served as interim sheriff in 2004. He and his wife, Renee, have two children. They reside in Atlanta. 
 
Tracy W. Gay, Board of Dentistry
Gay has been practicing dentistry with Middle Georgia Family Dentistry since 2001. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, DeLynn, have two children. They reside in Dublin. 
 
Amy M. Hooper, Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses
Hooper is a community relations representative for United Home Care. She works as a community nurse liaison for long-term and acute care facilities as well as physician offices. Hooper earned her licensed practical nursing degree from Chattahoochee Technical Institute in 1998. She and her husband, Trenton, have one son. They reside in Good Hope. 
 
William A. Bornstein, Special Advisory Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits
Bornstein is the chief quality and medical officer of Emory Healthcare. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology and Metabolism. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Dartmouth College and medical degree and doctorate of philosophy in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Sherri, have two daughters. They reside in Atlanta.
 
J.C. “Chris” Clark, Jr., Technical College System of Georgia Board
Clark is president and chief executive officer of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He has served as commissioner of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and as deputy commissioner of global trade for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. He currently serves on the Rural Development Council and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development Board. He is a trustee of Georgia Southern University and a member of the Board of Visitors for the University of Georgia. Clark earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and master’s degree from Georgia College and State University. He and his wife, Tiffany, have one son. They reside in Peachtree City. 
 
Anthony Waters, Consumer Advisory Board (reappointment)
Waters is co-owner and chief financial officer of L A Waters Furniture Co. Inc. Waters is past president of the Georgia Home Furnishings Association where he currently sits on its board of directors. He is past chairman and a current board member of the Georgia Retail Association. Waters has also served as president of the Rotary Club of Statesboro and is a member of the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Sally, have two children. They reside in Statesboro. 
 
Thomas J. “Jeff” Wigington, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
Wigington served with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department for 35 years, the last 16 years as sheriff. He has served on the Governor’s Homeland Security Task Force and the Board of Commissioners of the Sheriffs’ Retirement Fund of Georgia. Wigington earned a bachelor’s degree from Brenau College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. He and his wife, Beth, have three grown sons and one granddaughter. They reside in Stockbridge.
 
Janis G. Mangum, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
Mangum currently serves as the sheriff of Jackson County. She has 28 years of law enforcement experience, the last 24 years with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. She serves as ex-officio member of the Tree House Child Advocacy Center and as a member of the Piedmont Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Task Force. Mangum is also a member of the Peace Officer Association of Georgia. She and her husband, Jerry, have one son and three grandchildren. They reside in Pendergrass. 
 
Paul Shailendra, Board of Natural Resources
Shailendra serves as president of SG Property Services. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is an alumnus of Woodward Academy where he now sits on their advisory council. He is a past member of the Real Estate Committee for the Woodruff Arts Center, Waterfowl USA, and other outdoor sports organizations. Shailendra is past vice president of People-TV, he served on the Board of Directors of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, and he was a member of the 2007 class of L.E.A.D and the 2011 class of Leadership Georgia. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta YMCA and the Board of Directors of Midtown Alliance. Shailendra also co-chairs of the YCEO golf tournament and is a chair of the Buckhead chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He and his wife, Amanda, have one daughter. They reside in Atlanta.
