Deal appoints 17 to boards

Lori S. Durden, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Durden currently serves as the vice president for economic development at Ogeechee Technical College. She serves on the Coastal Workforce Investment Board, the board of trustees for the Foundation for Public Education in Bulloch County and the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Durden is a member of the Rotary Club of Statesboro, an alumna of Leadership Georgia and was named on Georgia Trend’s 2009 Forty under Forty list of young business professionals. She earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. She and her husband, Tim, have three children. They reside in Statesboro.

George Hooks, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Hooks is the outgoing state senator from Georgia’s 14th District. He is a sixth-generation native of Sumter County and owns an insurance and real estate firm in Americus. He served as dean of the Senate and on the Senate Economic Development; Ethics; Rules; Natural Resources; Environment and Appropriations committees. He also served on the OneGeorgia Authority Oversight Committee. Hooks earned a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and an honorary doctor of law degree from Mercer University. He and his wife, Kay, have two children. They reside in Americus.

Rogers Wade, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Wade retired as president and chief executive officer of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation in 2009. He is currently chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Policy Foundation and a senior partner of Capitolink Inc. He serves on the boards of the Georgia Research Alliance, the Georgia Trucking Association, the U.S.O., the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and is a trustee of the Richard B. Russell Foundation. Wade earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Marcia, reside in Sandy Springs.

Scott Smith, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Smith is president and chief operating officer of Northwest Georgia Bank. He serves as board member and secretary of NW Services Corp, as board member of the Catoosa County Economic Development Authority, and past chairman of the board of Junior Achievement of Chattanooga. He has served as a trustee for the Dalton State College Foundation, as board member of the Georgia Banker’s Association and the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Melanie, have three children. They reside in Ringgold.

Scott Johnson, State Board of Education
Johnson is currently senior vice president of Financial Supermarkets, Inc. of Cornelia. He serves on the board of the Georgia Department of Human Services, the Stone Mountain Memorial Association and is chairman of the board of Republican Leadership for Georgia. He is also the former chairman of the Cobb County Republican Party and a member of the Cobb County Transportation SPLOST Oversight Committee. Johnson is a graduate of both Leadership Cobb and the Coverdell Leadership Institute. He attended Shelby State College in Memphis. He and his wife, Janet, reside in Marietta and have three children and four grandchildren.

Randall Pugh, Board of Economic Development
Pugh is the president/chief executive officer of Jackson Electric Membership Corp. He serves on the board of directors of the Oglethorpe Power Corp., the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Georgia System Operations Corporation Board. He also serves on the executive board of the Northeast Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America. Pugh earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Patricia, have three sons and two grandchildren. They reside in Jefferson.

Kent Fountain, Board of Economic Development
Fountain is president and chief executive officer of Southeastern Gin & Peanut, Inc. and Altamaha Oil. He serves as chairman of the National Cotton Ginners’ Association, as secretary of the Southeastern Ginners’ Association, and is a National Cotton Council director. He served as chairman of the Wayne County Board of Education from 2006 to 2010. Fountain earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Missi, have two sons. They reside in Screven.

Mark A. Glass, Board of Economic Development
Glass is founder and president of Glass Enterprises, Inc., a poultry and alligator farm in Camilla. He has served on the board of directors for Georgia Farm Bureau, Mitchell County Farm Bureau, Flint River National Bank, United Poultry Growers Association, and First United Ethanol, LLC. He was in the Leadership Georgia Class of 2003, served as program chair in 2004, and was recently awarded Mitchell County Entrepreneur of the Year. Glass earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Susan, have four children. They reside in Camilla.

John "Jay" Neely III, Board of Economic Development
Neely serves as deputy general counsel for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. at its headquarters in Savannah. Prior to joining Gulfstream, he practiced law in Atlanta with Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker and served as law clerk for the Honorable Dudley H. Bowen, Jr., U.S. District Court, Augusta. Neely serves on the Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees, as Leadership Savannah President, and on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He earned a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Courtney, have two children. They attend the Community Bible Church in Savannah.

Dwight Davis, Board of Natural Resources
Davis is a senior partner at the law firm of King & Spalding and an adjunct professor at Mercer University School of Law. He also owns a pecan farm in Middle Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army for four years as an Airborne Ranger. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from The Citadel and a law degree from Mercer University School of Law. He and his wife, Brenda, have two children and one grandchild. They reside in Atlanta.

Delos Yancey III, Board of Natural Resources
Yancey is chairman, president, and chief executive officer of State Mutual Insurance Co. of Rome. He is also chairman and chief executive officer of Insurance Administrative Services. He serves on the Board of Georgia Life & Health Guaranty Association, the Georgia Association of Life Insurance Companies, the Oklahoma Life & Health Guaranty Association, Insurance Administrative Services, Cancer Navigators and United Community Bank of Rome. Yancey and his wife, Molly, have three children. They reside in Rome.

Jeff “Bodine” Sinyard, Board of Natural Resources
Sinyard is owner and president of Adams Exterminators, Inc., a regional pest control company located in Albany. He serves on the board of directors of Suntrust Bank of South Georgia, on the board of trustees of Darton College, as chairman of the Dougherty County Commission, the Albany Dougherty Payroll Development Authority, and the Dougherty Area Regional Transportation Authority. He also serves on the Georgia Military Affairs Coordinating Committee, Georgia Elections Advisory Board, Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission, and is an officer with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Lillie, have three sons. They reside in Albany.

Nancy A. Addison, Board of Natural Resources
Addison is vice president and chief financial officer for Health Service Centers, Inc. She is also a corporate adviser for Southern Woods Plantation and is a director for Majormatic, a South Africa-based company. Addison serves on the Greater Atlanta Chapter Board of Safari Club International and the Safari Club International Foundation Advisory Board. She has three children and resides in Savannah.

Doug Carter, Technical College System of Georgia Board
Carter is president of Don Carter Realty Co. He serves as chairman of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Political Action Committee. He is a member of the Economic Development Council of Hall County, the Redevelopment Authority of Gainesville, and the Gainesville Rotary Club. He is past chair of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Georgia, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, North Georgia Community Foundation, and the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. Carter earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University. He and his wife, Sandy, have two children. They reside in Gainesville.

Brian Daniel, Board of Governors of the George L. Smith II World Congress Center Authority
Daniel is president of Carroll Daniel Construction Co., a general contracting and construction management firm. He serves on the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors, the Associated General Contractors of Georgia, as director of the Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia, and as a trustee of Riverside Military Academy. Daniel earned a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and master’s degree from Southern Polytechnic State University. He and his wife, Kirstin, have two children. They reside in Gainesville.

Rayna J. Casey, Board of Trustees of the Georgia Lottery Corporation (reappointment)
Casey is vice president of the Buckhead Coalition. She serves as board member to Pace Academy, New Leash on Life, Friends of the Mansion, and the Genisis Shelter. She served on the Atlanta City Council Public Safety Task Force, as well as the Blue Ribbon Commission on Fulton County Governance. Casey is a sixth generation Georgian and has one daughter and two grandchildren. She resides in Atlanta.

David F. Addleton, Consumer Advisory Board
Addleton is president and owner of Addleton Ltd. Co. He previously served the Atlanta office of the UAW Legal Services Plan as its chief litigator. Addleton received a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University, and law degree from the John Marshall Law School. He has been a member of State Bar of Georgia since 1984 and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates. Addleton has two daughters. He and his wife, Pamela, live in Macon.
