Deal nominates for vocational rehabilitation director

Gov. Nathan Deal has chosen Greg Schmieg as his nominee for executive director of the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. Schmieg, currently the executive director of the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, will be appointed to the position upon approval of the Board. The vote is expected in the coming weeks.

Gregory A. Schmieg
Greg Schmieg is the Executive Director of the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs where he has served for the past 5 years. His professional career consists of more than 30 years working in both rehabilitation and healthcare, and began as a director of rehabilitation for two non-profit organizations in Missouri and New Hampshire. He has also worked as CEO at hospitals in Texas, Wisconsin and Georgia. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he obtained both his bachelors and masters degrees in Clinical Psychology. He served with distinction as a U. S. Navy Petty Officer during the Vietnam conflict from 1968-1972, where he received the Navy League Award.
