Deal appoints Clayton County State Court judge

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointment of Michael T. Garrett to the State Court judgeship within Clayton County. Garrett will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Harold G. Benefield. The appointment will take effect upon swearing in.

Garrett is an Assistant District Attorney within the South Georgia Judicial Circuit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minn. He resides in Forest Park.
