Deal appoints Atlanta Judicial Circuit judge

Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Robert C. McBurney to a Superior Court Judgeship within the Atlanta Judicial Circuit and is effective upon his swearing-in. McBurney will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Marvin Arrington who resigned effective Feb. 18.

McBurney is senior litigation counsel with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. He is the recipient of the FBI Director’s Award for Outstanding Counterterrorism Investigation, Council of Inspectors General Award for Excellence and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association National Award for Prosecutorial Excellence. McBurney earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and his law degree from Harvard Law School.
