Deal appoints nine to boards
Wendell Dallas, State Workforce Investment Board (reappointment)
Dallas is vice president of operations for Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas. He serves on the board for Gwinnett Technical College, where he is chairman, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Energy Workforce Development. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Atlanta and Leadership Savannah. He and his wife, Ruth, and their three children reside in Snellville.
John Edwin Krueger, State Workforce Investment Board
Krueger currently serves as the senior vice president of public policy for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Prior to this role, he served as a staff member in federal and state legislative offices as well as a consultant in the private sector. Krueger earned a bachelor of arts degree from Cedarville University in Ohio. He currently resides in Marietta with his three children.
Liza R. Leiter, State Workforce Investment Board
Leiter retired after serving as director of adult literacy at Chattahoochee Technical College in Acworth. She now serves on the board of directors of the Cobb County Youth Museum in Marietta. Leiter earned a bachelor’s degree from Agnes Scott College. She and her husband, Franklin, reside in Marietta. Together they have two children and seven grandchildren.
E. Lawton Sack, State Workforce Investment Board
Sack is currently employed with James L. Oates, III Enterprises, Inc., a plumbing company located in Bulloch County. He serves as the vice president of the Friends of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library and is an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Sack has attended Covington Theological Seminary and is currently enrolled at Georgia Southern University. He and his wife, Melissa, have three children. They reside in Statesboro.
Gayle K. Silvey, State Workforce Investment Board
Silvey joined SkillsUSA as the executive director after serving as the state director for the Technology Student Association. She is the chair-elect of the National SkillsUSA Board and serves on the SkillsUSA Georgia Board of Directors, the Youth Development Foundation, the Transportation Education Foundation of Georgia and the New Media Education Foundation of Georgia. Silvey earned an associate’s degree in Marketing Management from Clayton State College and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Education from Georgia State University. She and her husband, Wes, have two daughters. They reside in McDonough.
Travis C. Turner, State Workforce Investment Board
Turner is currently employed with Mt. Yonah Lumber Company, Inc. A native of White County, he serves as chairman of the County Commission and is a representative of the board on the Georgia Mountain Regional Council. Turner graduated with an associate’s degree from Truett McConnell College and North Georgia College and State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. He and his wife, Catherine, are members of the Cleveland Worship Center. Together, they have two children and reside in Cleveland.
Lisa C. Adams, State Workforce Investment Board
Adams was formerly a manager with Oxford Industries for 31 years. She is now employed with Southeastern Technical College as a project leader for the Southeast Georgia Advanced Manufacturing and Distribution Region. Adams is also a member of the Vidalia City Board of Education. She graduated from Tift College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She and her husband, Pat, have one son. They reside in Vidalia.
Sarah S. Harrison, State Workforce Investment Board
Harrison currently serves as the workforce representative for the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission. She is a graduate of the Development Authority Executive Skills Institute and Georgia Economic Development Leadership Academy. Additionally, she is a certified economic developer through the International Economic Development Council. She received a degree in Visual Arts from Georgia State University as well as a degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University. She and her husband, Larry, have two grown children and four grandchildren. They reside in Dalton.
Beth M. Herman, State Workforce Investment Board
Herman is a regional director for the Manpower Group where she is responsible for talent acquisition, sales, service, operations and recruiting. She is currently a member of the Cobb County Workforce Board where she serves as chairman, a member of the DeKalb Workforce Board, a member of the Society of Human Resource Management of Atlanta and the Cobb Executive Women Steering Committee. Herman received a degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from West Virginia University and also completed the strategic leadership series at the University of Wisconsin. She and her husband, David, have two children. They reside in Sandy Springs.
