Deal announces judicial and district attorney appointments

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointments of Timothy R. Walmsley to the Superior Court judgeship within the Eastern Judicial Circuit, Philip T. Raymond III to the Superior Court judgeship within the Macon Judicial Circuit, and David J. Blevins to the Superior Court judgeship within the Conasauga Judicial Circuit. Deal also announced the appointment of Bert Poston as district attorney of the Conasauga Judicial Circuit. The appointments take effect upon swearing in.

Timothy R. Walmsley, Eastern Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Walmsley is a partner at Hunter, Maclean, Exley & Dunn, P.C. in Savannah and magistrate judge of Chatham County. He serves on the board of directors of Senior Citizens, Inc. and Goodness & Mercy Foundation, Inc. Walmsley earned his bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., and his law degree from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans. He and his wife, Alison, have two children. They reside in Savannah.

Philip T. Raymond III, Macon Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Raymond is managing partner at Shaffer, Raymond & Dalton in Macon. He is a Master in the William Augustus Bootle Inn of Court. Raymond earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and law degree from the Walter F. Georgia School of Law at Mercer University. He and his wife, Susan, have three children. They reside in Macon.

David J. Blevins, Conasauga Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Blevins is sole practitioner of David J. Blevins, P.C., Attorney at Law, in Dalton. He is a board member of the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation. Blevins earned his bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson, Tenn., and law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Sheri, have three daughters. They reside in Cohutta.

Bert Poston, District Attorney, Conasauga Judicial Circuit
Poston is Chief Assistant District Attorney within the Conasauga Judicial Circuit. He is a board member of Family Promise of Whitfield County and the Green House, An Advocacy Center for Children. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Dalton and assistant den leader of Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scout Pack 65. Poston earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Charlotte, have four children. They reside in Dalton.
