Deal appoints two to boards

Avery D. Niles, Board of Juvenile Justice
Niles is the warden of the Hall County Correctional Institution. He previously served as commander of the Hall County Detention Center and is a 23-year veteran of the Hall County Sheriff’s Department. He is the third vice president of the Georgia Prison and Warden’s Association and a trustee of the Gainesville College Foundation Board. He is a member of the North Georgia Investigator’s Association, the National Sheriff’s Association, the Georgia Sheriff’s Association, the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. Niles is a graduate of Leadership Hall County, the Georgia Police Academy, the FBI National Academy and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mortuary science. He serves as a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church. He and his wife, Charlene, have one daughter and reside in Clermont.

Ivan D. Figueroa, State Workforce Investment Board
Figueroa is the regional sales and business development manager for Revenue Discovery Systems. He has been a Johns Creek City Council member since 2006 and currently serves on the board of directors for the Isakson-Alpharetta YMCA, Performing Arts North and the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. He was recognized by the Georgia Municipal Association for his extensive training with the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute for Elected Officials this year. Figueroa earned a bachelor’s of science in transportation management from Elmhurst College. He and his wife, Karen, have two daughters and reside in Johns Creek.
