Deal names five to boards

Kenneth A. Griffiths, Civil War Commission
Griffiths is the broker and principal of Cygnet Properties, LCC, a small commercial and real estate brokerage and management company located in Atlanta. He attended high school at the Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta, and received a bachelor’s in Finance from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Florida. Griffiths was commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocates General’s Corps and served on active duty for four years, including one year in Vietnam. Prior to entering the real estate business, he worked for 11 years at the Coca-Cola Co. Griffiths remained in the U.S. Army Reserves for 30 years, retiring as a colonel. He is an ardent student of history and has recently completed a novel about the Battle of Atlanta. Griffiths lives in Atlanta with his wife, Brenda.

Douglas Chalmers Jr., Civil War Commission
Chalmers is the managing member of the Political Law Group. He advises businesses, nonprofit organizations, political committees, elected officials, candidates, political parties, lobbyists and government bodies on federal and state campaign finance, election, lobbying and ethics laws. Chalmers received his undergraduate and law degrees from Duke University. He previously served as vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Department of Driver Services. He and his wife, Charlotte, have three children. They reside in Johns Creek.

David J. Blevins, State Personnel Board
Blevins, of Cohutta, has practiced law in Dalton since 1985. He is currently the principal of David J. Blevins, P.C. He serves on the board of directors of the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation and is a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. Blevins holds a bachelor’s in History from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Sheri, have three daughters.

Robert Curtis “Curt” Moore Sr., State Personnel Board
Moore is currently retired after 38 years in insurance management. He is the executive director of the Lumpkin County Water and Sewerage Authority and the Economic Development Team of the Lumpkin County Development Authority. Moore is the past president of the Georgia Tech Club and the past chairman of the Lumpkin County GOP. He is also a member of the Salvation Army Board, the Volunteer Good News Clinic and the First Baptist Church of Gainesville. He and his wife, Martha, reside in Gainesville.

Sheriff Steve Wilson, Board of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities
Wilson has been a law enforcement officer for 33 years. He was elected sheriff of Walker County in 1996 and is currently serving his fourth term. Wilson serves as vice president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes and is a board member of the Family Crisis Center of Walker, Dade, Chattooga and Catoosa counties. Wilson is a graduate of LaFayette High School, the Georgia Police Academy and Naval Post Graduate School – Center for Homeland Defense and Security. He and his wife, Sandy, live in LaFayette have three adult children.
