Deal names four to boards

Diane F. Drake, LDO, ABOM, FCLSA, Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians
Drake, a licensed optician in Georgia, is an optical industry consultant, lecturer, course developer, author and adjunct instructor at DeKalb Technical College in Clarkston. Prior to that, Drake owned and operated All About Eyes Vision Center. She has received numerous state, regional and national awards for her contributions to the field of ophthalmic optics. Drake serves on the board of directors for the National Academy of Opticianry and is a commissioner for the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation. She holds a master’s in ophthalmic optics from the American Board of Opticianry. Drake and her husband Bob have two children and five  grandchildren. They reside in Jackson.

Joseph John Reed, Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians
Reed has been a licensed dispensing optician for over 30 years. He is American Board of Opticianry Master Certified and National Contact Lens Examiners Certified. Reed is the chairman of the SouthEastern Opticians Conference, president of Joe Reed Opticians, Inc. and an associate of the North Georgia Eye Clinic in Gainesville. He was previously president of the Opticians Association of Georgia and chairman of the Guild Opticians of America. Reed attended Gainesville College. He and his wife, Peggy, reside in Gainesville and have two children and four grandchildren.

Ashley Barnett, Georgia Board of Nursing
Barnett is the Director of Public Relations, Media Relations and Marketing for the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in public relations and a minor in speech communications. Barnett is active in her community in Washington where she serves on the Hospital Auxiliary and Hospital Foundation and is a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Woman’s Club and the Spring Tour of Homes Committee. She is also a member of the Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling and the 2011 class of Leadership Georgia. Barnett has been named one of NBC Augusta 26 News “Women to Watch.” She and her husband Ames, who serves on the Washington City Council, have a 5-year-old son, Porter.

E. Robin Bohannon, State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Bohannon is in private practice in Augusta and is being reappointed to the state board by Gov. Deal. He is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association, Georgia Academy of Audiology, Audiological Resource Association and Audiology Dispensing Association. Bohannon earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Georgia. He received his Au.D. from Penn College. He and his wife, Harriette, live in Augusta. They have two children and one grandchild.
