Deal appoints ten to boards
Rogers Wade, McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority
Wade retired from his position as the president and CEO of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation in 2009. He serves as the chairman of the board of trustees for the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and is active on the Executive Committee of USO, the Richard Russell Foundation at the University of Georgia, the GMTA Board of Directors and the Engineering Advisory Board of the University of Georgia. Wade is also a member of the board of directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and is a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta. Wade’s past activities include membership on the board of the PAGE Foundation and the Gordon Foundation. He was a founding member of Leadership Georgia. Wade and his wife of 48 years, Marcia, met as students at the University of Georgia and are longtime residents of Sandy Springs and Sky Valley.
Rick Muggridge, Department of Community Affairs Board
Muggridge has spent 20 years as an insurance agent in Albany. He is currently the operations manager of DWB Insurance Agency, Inc. He was raised in Albany and attended the University of Georgia. Muggridge currently serves as the vice chairman of the Lee County Board of Commissioners and is a volunteer with the Palladium Foundation Inc., Easter Seals Southern Georgia, Rivers Alive and the Leesburg United Methodist Church. He and wife, Terry, have three children.
Tonya A. Barbee, Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists
Barbee began her career in social work career in 1997 as a case manager for the Department of Family and Children Services. Since then, she has worked with adolescents in a residential setting and provided private counseling for individuals, families and children. Barbee currently serves as clinical director for Atlantic Solutions, where she specializes in in-home, therapeutic services for at-risk children. Barbee earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree from Savannah State University. She and her husband, Brent, have three children. They reside in St. Simons Island.
Bill Mullally, Georgia Film Commission
Mullally is an investment adviser for JP Morgan in Atlanta. He served on the Georgia Film and Video Commission from 1999 to 2003. He is a member of the Technology Association of Georgia and was the Founder of the Technology in Entertainment SIG. He is a past member of the board of trustees at Oglethorpe University where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He resides in Atlanta with his wife, Karen, and his daughters, Sara and Kate.
The North Georgia Mountains Authority is affiliated with the Department of Natural Resources and its members must serve on the DNR board. Gov. Deal has appointed the following to the authority:
Jim Walters
Walters, 9th Congressional District representative, is the president and CEO of Walters Management Company. Walters is a past president and current chairman of the legislative and political action committee of the Georgia Industry Loan Association. He is secretary of the board of trustees at Brenau University and also serves on the board’s executive and finance committees. Walters attended North Carolina State University and Charlotte College and was granted an honorary doctorate degree in law from the Brenau University board of trustees. He and his wife, Peggy, live in Gainesville. They have two children and five grandchildren.
Philip A. Wilheit, Jr.
Wilheit , 4th Congressional District representative, is a partner at Wilheit Packaging, LLC, and owner of TargetMatz, LLC. He serves on the board of directors of the United Way of Hall County and John Jarrard Foundation. Wilheit is also a member of the Benedicts of Atlanta and sits on the Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia Advisory Board and the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee. Wilheit earned his bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a master’s in business from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Addie, have one child. They live in the Brookhaven section of DeKalb County.
Joseph “Joe” M. Hatfield
Hatfield, 10th Congressional District representative, is the Executive Vice President of Operations and serves on the board of directors for Fieldale Farms Corp. He is on the board of directors for the North Georgia Technical College and Peach State Bank and Trust. Hatfield is also a member of the National Chicken Council and the Georgia Poultry and Egg Association and served on the Georgia Board of Economic Development. Hatfield earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from North Georgia College. He and his wife, Rosalyn, have one child. They reside in Clarkesville.
Robert D. Leebern
Leebern, 5th Congressional District representative, is a principal with Troutman Sanders Strategies where he leads the federal affairs team and serves on the firm’s board of directors. He is a member of Leadership Georgia and has served on the board of directors for the Georgia State Society of Washington, D.C., the Coverdell Leadership Institute and the Georgia Republican Foundation. He and his wife Wendy live in Atlanta, where they are members of Northside Methodist Church.
Warren Candler Budd
Budd, 3rd Congressional District representative, is an agent for New York Life Insurance Company. He is a 39-year member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a chartered life underwriter and a member of the Nautilus Group. He is a member of the Board of Good News, a United Methodist Renewal Group. He previously served on the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, as well as the UM Committee on Relief. Budd also mentors a child on as part of the Coweta County School Mentoring Program. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. Budd and his wife, Courtenay, live in Newnan. They have four children.
Duncan Johnson
Johnson is the president of Johnson Motor Company Dealerships. He also serves as the vice chairman of the Central Savannah River Area Alliance, a public sector, nonprofit planning and development agency that serves 13 counties and 41 cities region in central Georgia. He attended Augusta College, now Augusta State University. He and his wife, Lynda, reside in Augusta. They have two children and three grandchildren.
