First Lady Sandra Deal co-authors “Memories of the Mansion” book

September 28, 2015

First Lady Sandra Deal today released “Memories of the Mansion: The Story of Georgia’s Governor’s Mansion” at a book launch held at the Atlanta History Center. “Memories of the Mansion” is a history of the Georgia governor’s mansion told through the stories and experiences of the first families who lived there. Deal co-authored the book with Kennesaw State University history professors Catherine M. Lewis and Jennifer W. Dickey.

“The mansion belongs to the people of Georgia, and this book is an effort to share and preserve its rich history,” said Deal. “All homes have a story to tell, and the Governor’s Mansion is no exception.”

Deal and her co-authors worked closely with the Maddox, Carter, Busbee, Harris, Miller, Barnes and Perdue families to include their memories and behind-the-scenes photos of life in the mansion.
