Deal: Hyundai Glovis Georgia to create 190 jobs in Harris County

December 18, 2014

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Hyundai Glovis Georgia, a leading logistics services company for the automotive sector, will relocate its parts consolidation center to West Point, creating up to 190 jobs over four years.

“Georgia’s booming automotive and logistics industries play critical roles in creating jobs and bringing investment to the state,” said Deal. “To serve their global customer base and remain internationally competitive, companies like Hyundai Glovis need high-quality resources like those found throughout Georgia at their disposal. Hyundai Glovis Georgia’s expansion here speaks to the strength and vitality of our ready-to-work labor force and top-ranked business climate, and I have no doubt that this industry leader will continue to find success in our state.”

The company will work with a general contractor to develop a new, state-of-the-art 310,080-square-foot sub-assembly and sequencing facility in the Northwest Harris Business Park. The facility will be used to assemble and distribute components to meet the strict demands and timetables of its suppliers.

“We look forward to expanding our operations in Georgia and are appreciative of the support that we have received from West Point, Harris County and the state of Georgia,” said Hyundai Glovis Georgia Chief Operating Officer Hong Kee Rhee.

Yoonie Kim, senior project manager on the international investment team at the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), assisted Hyundai Glovis Georgia on behalf of the state, along with the City of West Point Development Authority and Georgia Electric Membership Corp. Transwestern represented the company during the site selection process.

“Harris County is thrilled to welcome Hyundai Glovis Georgia as our newest corporate citizen,” said Harris County Commission Chairman Harry Lange. “Its decision to locate in the Northwest Harris Business Park represents a commitment to Harris County and its continuing efforts to attract premier businesses. We eagerly await its grand opening in the fall of 2015 and anticipate a strong partnership with Hyundai Glovis Georgia in the years ahead.”

“The automotive sector has grown significantly in Georgia over the past few years,” said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. “Our competitive business climate, which includes a solid network of suppliers, direct access to leading original equipment manufacturers and an interconnected transportation infrastructure, create an ideal place for leading companies such as Hyundai Glovis Georgia to grow.”
