Deal appoints judge for Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit

Gov. Nathan Deal today appointed Asha F. Jackson to a Superior Court Judgeship within the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit, effective upon her swearing-in. Ms. Jackson will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Michael Hancock on Jan. 31.

Jackson is a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Atlanta. She was appointed to the Recorder’s Court of DeKalb County as a Pro Hac Judge in 2010. Jackson has served as district fund-raising captain and law merit badge instructor for the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as a board member for League of Women Voters of DeKalb County, Outstanding Atlanta Association, and City of Hope Ministries of the Ray of Hope. She is also the founder and past vice president of the Atlanta Urban League of Young Professionals Group. Jackson earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester and law degree from Tulane Law School in New Orleans.
